Where are the more alternative art inspired conversation friendly bars in San Diego, California?

whatiship100 asked:

I am new to San Diego and am looking for really chill bars that are artistically influenced and cater to those more interested in quality conversation than drunken debauchery. A place that has good music but not so loud you have to yell into someone’s ear to communicate. A place where people aren’t there for upholding some fake image they are putting but rather for socializing with friends and getting to know like-minded people. Any recommendations? Thanks so much!

I plan on moving west after college. Although I like to take risks. I am also very nervous about my decision. But I feel like it is something that I need to do.
Stories from experience would be greatly appreciated

Is San Diego, California a good place to live?

K J asked:

I’m moving to California in June of 2007 and I was wondering what is the best city, safest city, and cleanest city. I was going to move to Los Angeles until I heard how bad, and dirty it was. I have decided to move to San Diego now, and I was wondering am I making a great choice? Is there anything I should know about San Diego? I found a great place in Downtown San Diego, and was also wondering is the Downtown in San Diego, safe, clean, and beautiful. Or is it like Los Angeles Downtown? Can you easily find work? How far it is from Los Angeles, because I’m in the Entertainment Business also and would need to make frequent trips there for Entertainment and Music purposes. Please let me know, thanks!
I heard that it is very unsafe to walk in Downtown Los Angeles alone, and especially at night. Is it like the in Downtown San Diego? The zip code for the place I’m at is 92101 is that in a general good area or not?
